A vision to create beauty beyond just hair.

Citizen Rae or simply known as “Rae” has been in the hair salon industry since 2010. She is an alumni of Cosmetology with Paul Brown at Remmington College. After graduating, she first entered her hair styling career by becoming an apprentice under master hair stylist Gail Arita-Chong of Gail & Co. While under Gail’s guidance, Rae was able to experience hands on training with well known companies such as TIGI & WELLA. Working through her first four years as an aiding stylist she had learned and applied various techniques of color, cutting and styling.

In 2015 she decided to venture out on her own to become a full time hairstylist. Rae found her first hair home with Citizen Salon located in Honolulu’s own Downtown Chinatown area. Here at Citizen Salon she aided owner and head stylist Jaime Malapit Jr. on the salon floor. Starting off as a Junior stylist she was deeply influenced and inspired by the owner. Rae coined her moniker to honor her late friend and mentor. She strongly believes that her time at Citizen Salon really helped her blossom into the stylist that she is known today, and will carry on the homogenous mission her and Jaime shared.

Today, Rae is her own independent hair artist working out of the notable DIVA HNL Salon located in the heart of Honolulu. Rae strives to be a well rounded artist, she makes it a point to continue her education by traveling to attend classes or studying online.

Her specialty service is Creative color. She loves being able to let her creativity flow through hair color using your hair as her canvas. Rae desires to be the best that she can be personally and behind the chair and she hopes that it reflects in her aura through her work.
